Happy New Year!

I thought this was quite an apt way to say goodbye to 2010! During 2010 I have traveled to many beautiful places, made several new friendships, strengthened old ones, and been blessed with some amazing opportunities! I only hope 2011 will be even better!

I wish you a Happy New Year, and all the best for 2011!

dynamic dresses

Felicity Brown - Autumn/Winter 2010 Henri de Toulouse Lautrec

The designer behind these gorgeous creations is English designer Felicity Brown,  who has previously designed for Alberta Ferretti, Loewe, Mulberry and Lanvin. These dresses are part of Brown's debut, a small and impressive couture collection, inspired by Henri de Toulouse Lautrecs paintings, ' where flamboyant and provocative women lean over a bar, wearing extravagant silk ruffles, showing off shamelessly'. It is clear to see from these dresses, made using precious silks, why the fashion houses would be keen to have her on board, and the collection not only showcases Brown's keen eye for details, but her gift of artistic creativity! Each piece is utterly stunning and moves in its own way... can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

tongue in cheek

These are all pictures from Zoe Karssen's Rock and Rule 2010 Winter Collection,  which consists of cute wearable t-shirts and jumpers, with zesty tongue in cheek graphics  in simple base colours, such as white, washed black, grey marl and navy. On her website, Zoe Karssen states that 'the collection takes inspiration from various icons in the music and fashion industries like Alison Mosshart, Kate moss, Erin wasson, Jessica Hart, Blondie, and Marilyn Monroe to name but a few'. I saw a few of her t-shirts and jumpers on a recent shopping trip, and loved the personality of the shirts, but also their great quality, and the fact that they are so easy to wear! They are simply a great staple addition to any girls' warderobe!

To find out where you can get the t-shirts, and to find out more, look here!

stuck in my mind

Usually I don't pay much attention to music videos, as I find they usually don't add anything extra to the song itself, and aren't anything special...But I changed my mind when I saw the accompaning video to the The Cordelier Club's debut single 'don't let it go'. The video is directed by Kent Hugo, and the non-stop motion party in the video and overall tone and themes in video is somethin a little different, and perfectly reflects the song!

I recently stumbled across Lissie on spotify, and have not really stopped listening to her since! Her music has been described as folk rock, and her gorgeous soulful voice is accompanied by heartfelt lyrics, and a tough girl attitude! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do...

countdown to christmas!

Many people's favorite time of the year is fast approaching, and with this comes the usual advent of well-known christmas songs and carols. Don't get me wrong, I love some of the classic Christmas songs, but I'm always open to something new, and was therefore pleasantly surprised when I stumbled on the link below! This is a new release by coldplay, and by far my favourite christmas song this year... Enjoy!

kate moss

Never seen this image of Kate Moss before, but absolutely love this picture! The intricate headgear is a stunning piece of artwork in itself, and this is one of the prettiest pictures of Kate by far...

sting's daughter

stumbled across this again the other day, and it's still one of my favourites...

On Monday night Blake Lively attended the launch of  Lorraine Schwartz’s “2BHAPPY” jewelry collection, wearing a Versace dress, and accessorizing with Lorrain Schwartz's jewelry and Christian Louboutin heels...

Blake looks simply stunning, and the total look radiates utter class, style, elegance and orginiality. It may be a bit of a risk , but this one really paid off! Serena van der Woodsen would be proud ;)

beauty essentials

The harsh winter months can dry out your skin, but luckily there are several products that can help ensure your survival! There are a few beauty essentials that I simply could live without, and these are two beauty products that I ALWAYS have with me, especially throughout the dark, cold wintery months.

The Elizabeth Arden cream, created in 1930 by Elizabeth Arden to soothe skin, was an instant success and is considered by many to be a beauty classic. What makes it so effective is a combination of petrolatum, a skin-soothing beta-hydroxy in one of its first cosmetic uses, and vitamin E. The name and eight hour claim, came about thanks to a remarkable performance - a loyal client used it to treat her child's skinned knee and "eight hours later" the skin was all better.

The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream is a cream you can use for pretty much anything and it helps sooth, restore, calm and help relieve chapped, cracked, dry skin, as well as soothing roughness, redness and minor skin irritations.

The Elizabeth Arden lip protectant is a lip balm enriched with emollients, protective sunscreen and vitamin E, moisturizing, softening and smoothing lips.

Both products are available at most drugstores, and may cost more than your average lip balm or skin cream, but are most definitely worth it!
